German delegation to train in alternative dispute resolution

A three-member delegation from the German Chamber of Commerce has paid a working visit to the Sekondi Commercial Court.

The visit is to serve as a bench mark in training over 15 Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioners from the Sekondi/Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI) to handle business dispute as against formal litigation in the law court.

Dr. Christoph Hasche, a legal practitioner with the German Chamber of Commerce who led the delegation, said ADR was ideal for businesses especially in countries where court procedures took a long time to be settled.

He said with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Development, knowledge of ADR practitioners from the STCCI would be enhanced and strengthened.

Mr. Kofi Diaba, the Western Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association, said ADR was a good concept to be promoted among the business community.

Mr. Cadmond Dadzie, Vice Chairman of the STCCI, urged businesses to have trust in ADR as an avenue for amicable resolution of disputes.
