Gbawe launches development programme

Amasaman, Aug 12, GNA - Nii Commey Abbey, Chief of Gbawe Gonsee near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region, has called for the use of occasions like Homowo to settle disputes and differences among the people to enhance development.

Nii Commey Abbey, the former assemblyman for Mallam and Gbawe electoral area, made the call at a durbar at Gbawe Gonsee to round off their annual Homowo festival.

He also launched a five-year development programme to cost 250 million cedis and projects planned include the construction of a block of six classrooms an office and a store.

Others are the construction of a market, clinic and extension of electricity from Gbawe to the town, a distance of four kilometres. Nii Commey Abbey said the projects would be executed through communal labour and contributions of 50,000 cedis per man and 20,000 cedis per woman, whiles non-citizens will pay 100,000 cedis each. Nii Commey Abbey appealed to the Amasaman District Assembly and non-governmental organisation for assistance.
