The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ga West, John Desmond Sowah Nai, has expressed his commitment to making the Municipality second to none in the areas of sanitation, revenue mobilisation and job creation.
“We want to make Ga West exceptional among all the Municipal Assemblies in Ghana. Sanitation and revenue mobilisation are very key to us, as well as creating jobs for our people,”
he stated.
According to the MCE, the Assembly has already recruited about 71 officers, including coordinators, security personnel and members of the Building and Sanitation Task Forces.
“We are going to add more officers to revenue collection. We hope to employ about 100 officers in the next few days,”
he added.
Sowah Nai gave this assurance during an orientation programme for the newly recruited Works and Sanitation Task Force held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Ga West Municipal Assembly in Amasaman.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament (MP) for Amasaman, Sedem Afenyo, the Amasaman Divisional and District Police Commander and other officials.
Sowah Nai acknowledged that the Ga West Municipal Assembly is currently not in a strong financial position. He therefore urged the newly recruited task force members to work diligently to help boost the Assembly’s internally generated funds.
He also announced a 25 percent salary increment for the new employees and encouraged them to work harder to enhance revenue mobilisation for the Assembly.
The MCE further disclosed that three new Nissan pickup vehicles have been procured to support the operations of the task forces.

He stressed the need for the vehicles to be handled with care and maintained properly.
On his part, the MP for Amasaman, Sedem Afenyo, urged the task force to work collaboratively to ensure that President John Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda” is effectively implemented in the Municipality.
He called for unity and harmony among the officers as they begin their duties, advising them to uphold discipline and avoid any actions that could tarnish the image of the Assembly.
“Work in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Assembly and help make Ga West a model of effective local governance,”
the MP stated.
