The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) has expressed sorrow over the deaths of eight people who perished in Wednesday’s helicopter crash in the Adansi District of the Ashanti Region.
In a statement signed by its president, Dr James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, GREDA extended condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the bereaved families, and friends of the victims.
The association described the deceased as “distinguished officials of the State and gallant servicemen” who were on an urgent national assignment when tragedy struck on August 6, 2025.
“GREDA joins the nation in mourning and solemnly commits to the three days of national mourning declared by the President of the Republic,” the statement said.
The organisation concluded by praying for the souls of the “eight national heroes” to rest in peace.
The crash of the Z-9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
Other victims included Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Central Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.
Members of the helicopter’s crew who also perished in the crash were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
