GPRTU Volta to work out travel arrangements to Accra

Ho, July 12, GNA-Accra bound passenger vehicles and travellers from the Volta Region have been called upon to bear with the inconvenience arising from the partial closure of the Adomi Bridge for major repair works. Mr. Edward Fiator, Regional First Trustee of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Ho. Mr. Fiator said the leadership of the Union would work out arrangements under which its members who ply the Accra route would be able to utilize the limited time that would be available to use the bridge. A Senior Personnel Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) Madam Kate Bansah who spoke to the GNA in the absence of the Regional Director and his Deputy, said the bridge would be closed to traffic between 0900 hours and 1200 hours daily until August 2. She said only vehicles below 20 tonnes would be allowed to use the bridge within the stipulated time. Madam Bansah said the GHA has made arrangements for vehicles to go through Juapong to Volo, Adidome to Soakage then to Accra. Another route would be through Ho-Denu through Sogakope to Accra.
