GCB presents five million cedis towards Osabarima Dotobibi's funeral

Techiman (B/A), Feb. 17, GNA - The Ghana Commercial Bank on Monday presented a cheque for five million cedis to the Techiman Traditional Council towards the funeral rites of the late Omanhene of the area, Osabarima Dotobibi Takyia-Ameyaw II.

The late Omanhene, known in private life as Colonel Joseph Yaw Frimpong died on September 22, last year. The body will be flown to Techiman on February 20 for burial.

Making the presentation on behalf of the management of the Bank at the palace, Mr Ebenezer Kwame Ntreh, Brong Ahafo Area Manager, expressed his condolence to the people, noting that the death of the Omanhene "is a big blow to the entire citizens of the area, the people of Brong-Ahafo and the nation as a whole".

He said the bank was aware of the financial difficulties the traditional council faced in preparations towards the burial of the Omanhene, hence its contribution.

Mr Ntreh appealed to the chiefs to live in unity, peace and harmony for the steady development of the traditional area and expressed the hope that the kingmakers would select the right successor in a peaceful manner.

Nana Afia Abrafi Kotoo, Queenmother of the traditional area, received the cheque on behalf of the council.

Nana Asa Ackompanin, Kyidomhene and Krobohene, who is also chairman of the funeral planning committee, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the management of the Bank for the contribution.

He said the donation had come at a right time that the council needed resources to give the Omanhene a fitting burial.

The chief gave the assurance that the council would get the right successor to continue the good works initiated by the late Omanhene and called on well-meaning organizations and institutions to emulate the bank.

Present were Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Minister of Ports, Railways and Harbours, Nana Apentim Fosu Gyeabour, Bamuhene and Ahansuahene, Nana Ponawusei Owiredu-Brempong, Registrar of council and Kasapinhene.
