GAF commissions library for the Forces Pay Office unit

The Forces Pay Office of the Ghana Armed Force (GAF) has inaugurated its library complex to serve the unit in accessing information for research and educational purposes.

Brigadier General Ismael B. Quartey, Commander of Support Services Brigade Group, said the facility was necessitated out of his vision to make education and training for the personnel a topmost priority since training was the bedrock of any efficient and effective professional force.

Brig Gen Quartey said the Library would serve the educational needs of the unit in terms of research because “Knowledge is Power” adding that one of the qualities of any good leader is to be knowledgeable.

“Knowledge is acquired from learning and being knowledgeable in the military means being tactically or technically proficient in the field of the job”, he added.

He said ICT had become an indispensable tool in any modern establishment and that the Library Complex would help personnel prepare adequately for the future computerization of the Pay Corps.

Brid Gen Quartey said the Force would continue to support all the units both morally and financially in efforts aimed at improving the level of education of its personnel since there was no better investment than a quality education.

He appealed to the advice personnel to take advantage of the facility to sharpen their skills in ICT and upgrade their knowledge in other fields of study.

Lieutenant Colonel Anthony K.Dzisi, Commanding Officer of the Forces Pay Office, unit said ICT would prepare personnel for modern trends in the management of day to day businesses.

He expressed appreciation to ECOBANK for the support towards the construction and refurbishment of the complex as well the Busy Internet and Next Computers and others who supported the project.
