Friendship International assists Helpage Ghana

Accra, March 1, GNA - Helpage Ghana on Tuesday received items worth one million cedis from Friendship Force International Organisation, a non-Governmental Organisation, in Accra. The items included soap; rice; sugar; cooking oil, biscuits and fruits.

Presenting the items, Mr Godson Nyahe, Information Director at French the Embassy and a member of the organisation, said the donation was part of activities to mark this year's World Friendship Day and to show love and care towards the aged. He said the Atlanta-based Friendship Force was a non-profit organisation whose aim was to promote peace and cordial relations in the society.

Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate World Friendship Day he said the aged were the most deprived in the society. "We are here to show our love and also to interact with the aged." Ms Joyce Koranteng, Member of the Organisation, said there were 50 groups all over the world and their aim was to expand to 30 more countries. Mr Ebenezer Adjetey-Sorsey, Executive Director of Helpage Ghana, said the donation was a positive sign that the Organisation had found the need to help the aged.
