Freedom Flame arrives to modest welcome in Ho

Ho, March 2, GNA - Public response to the arrival of the Freedom Flame to the Ho Municipality on Friday was lukewarm.

When the flame arrived at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) at about 1130 hours, workers of the VRCC and other departments in the vicinity including some school children turned out to welcome it. By the time the flame arrived at the RCC, most of the workers and the public, which had been waiting since morning had dispersed. Public response picked up when the flame began its movement from the VRCC through some streets because of police and Fire Service siren that heralded its presence.

Presenting the flame to Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, Mr Fred Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of Hughes Hospitality, a co-organiser of the march, said the flame signified Ghana's liberty and what God had done for the country in the past 50 years.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi said the flame was to symbolically light the path of national development into the future.

He called on Ghanaians to let the flame remind them to be patriotic and dedicated to the national course.
