Four road contractors issued final warning

The Central Regional Directorate of the Department of Feeder Roads has issued final warning letters to four contractors working on some roads in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District owing to slow progress of work.

Mr. Samuel Adom Botchway, the District Chief Executive, said this at an Ordinary Meeting of the Assembly held at Breman Asikuma,

He mentioned Messrs Kobnasah Inv. Limited based in Cape Coast, Kwame Eyiah and Sons Limited Agona Swedru, Francobex Company Limited in Accra and AIT Construction Linmited Accra as contractors issued with such final warning letters.

The DCE said Kobnasah Inv. Limited commenced work on 3.0km road rehabilitation works on Anhwiam-Kwaanankwa feeder roads since 6th November, 2012 and was to complete the project November 06, 2013.

Kwame Eyiah and Sons Limited began surfacing the Breman Baako-Anyinabrim feeder road Phase Two on October 28, 2011 and scheduled for completion on October 21 2014 and Francobex Company Limited started roads spot improvement works from Odoben to Nsutem which it was to be completed in 2012.

Mr.Botchway said AlT Construction limited Accra, working on spot improvement of feeders roads under COCOBOD/CFRIP started on October 12, 2011 and was supposed to be completed on October 12, 2012.

He told the GNA in an interview that action should be taken against the contractors who had abandoned their jobs.

On Water and Sanitation, the DCE said, Central Regional Directorate of the Community and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) has procured pumps for installation on 18 boreholes in communities including Kojo Nkwanta, Asemasa, Kofi Ninsin Anhwiam, Nyamakyere.

Mr.Botchwayalso said under the GOG/UNICEF Wash Hand Project, the Assembly had been awarded 15 intuitional boreholes as well as five institutions with KVIPs under CWSA-IDA.

He appealed to beneficiary communities of such projects to support the contractors to complete the work on scheduled and also to monitor the progress of work.
