The leaders and members of Fountain Gate Chapel, Glory Pastures Sakumono over the weekend put smiles on the faces of inmates at the Akuse Prisons when they donated food items, toiletries, and others to help cater for the day-to-day needs of the prisoners.

This gesture is part of the church’s’ vision to support the vulnerable in society every year and also part of activities to climax the churches’ fourth (4th) anniversary this year.

The Head Pastor of Fountain Gate Chapel Glory Pastures, Pastor Isaac Mensah, said, ‘’we are just fulfilling scripture in Mathew 25:36 as a church by the support we give to this inmates in order for them not to feel neglected,’’ adding that, ‘’we must show love to such people who have lost hope in life as Jesus showed love to humanity.’’

He continued that this support is a way of evangelising to the inmates to assure them that Jesus is the only hope they can depend on. We will continue to extend our support to other groups in our society every year, Pastor Isaac added.

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, ASP Henry Darko of the Akuse Prisons, thanked the leadership of the church for such a kind gesture to the inmates. He said the inmates are always happy to receive such support from benevolence groups like Fountain Gate Chapel. He encouraged the public not to neglect the inmates when they are imprisoned but rather show them more love.

ASP Henry Darko assured that the items will be used to benefit the inmates in order to improve upon their welfare in the prison.

Members of Fountain Gate did not only go with items to bless the prisoners but they also went with the word of God. A short service was held for the inmates where some of them accepted Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour.

The inmates were also served with special food and drinks by the church to give them a different food taste aside the normal prison food in order to revitalise their day.
