Five communities to benefit from projects

Half Assini (W/R), Nov 15, GNA - The Effasu, Manygea, New Town, Enzimetianu and Anlomatuape communities in the Jomoro District are to benefit from electrification, road and water projects under the government's 20 billion cedis development package for the re-location of the Osagyefo barge from Effasu to Tema.

Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, the Western Regional Minister, who spoke at separate meetings with the inhabitants of the five communities, said cold storage facilities and fishing harbour would also be built at Effasu under the package.

The package was agreed at a meeting between the President and chiefs of the Western Nzema Traditional Area after the announcement of the re-location of the barge.

Mr Amoah said the chiefs were concerned about the development of the area and the development package has nothing to do with politics. He assured people that the government would honour its side of the agreement and called on the people to bury their political differences and unite behind the government to implement the package. Mr Amoah urged the people not to allow self-seeking politicians to influence them to demonstrate against the package because development has nothing to do with politics adding nobody should play politics with the development package.

He said the electrification project has already started and expressed the hope that this would lead to the establishment of businesses and creation of jobs.
