Five children absented themselves from the BECE in Effutu municipality

Winneba (C/R), April 20, GNA - The Minister for Transport, Mr Mike Hammah on Monday visited two examination centres, consisting of 19 schools with 1,203 candidates, taking part in the BECE at the Winneba Senior High School. Mr Hammah who is also the Member of Parliament for Effutu was accompanied by Ms Betty Addai Mensah, Deputy Municipal Coordinating Director and Mrs Rita Ackon, Assistant Director of Education at the District Directorate of Education. At the Examination Centre "A", Mr Emmanuel Prince Dzandu, the Examination Officer, told the Minister and his entourage that 646 candidates from 10 schools registered for the examination but there were three absentees. He said there were no problems associated with the examination. Mr James Kojo Bodu in-charge of Centre "B", told them that 562 children from nine schools registered with two absentees. He could not explain why the candidates did not turn up. The Minister advised the candidates to abide by the regulations and rules of the examination to ensure its success.
