Cape Coast, Jan. 29, GNA- A Cape Coast circuit court presided over by Mr. Kwame Ohene Essel, on Thursday sentenced a 21-year-old fisherman from Ntsin, a suburb of Cape Coast, to a year's imprisonment in hard labour for stealing.

Nana Akyin pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court that Akyin went to the room of the complainant at Aboom also a suburb of Cape Coast at around 3pm on Wednesday January 28, when he was asleep. Inspector Azasoo said he stole personal items like an electric iron, a pair of khaki shorts and a cloth of the complainant who is a student at Mfantsipim School.

He said luck, however run out on him, when the complainant woke up just at the time, Akyin was about to leave with his booty and the complainant raised an alarm and people around arrested him.

At the same court a self-styled businessman who duped a depot keeper with the Produce Buying Company at Cape Coast of an amount of 45 million cedis, was remanded in prison custody.

Kofi Yeboah pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretences and would be re-arraigned on Monday February 9.

Inspector Azasoo said sometime in January last year, the accused told the complainant that, he had some goods at the Tema harbour and needed 45 million cedis to clear them after which he would supply him with some of the goods to defray the amount.

He said the complainant gave the money to Yeboah who vanished into thin air but after sometime, the complainant met him at Cape Coast and demanded his money, but Yeboah told him the goods were yet to be distributed.

Inspector Azasoo said several demands by the complainant for the refund of his money yielded no results and the accused bolted again and was not seen until the complainant had a hint that he was involved in another fraud case pending at a court in Cape Coast.

He said a report was made to the police and when Yeboah was brought to court, he was arrested.
