Fire razes down house at Domeabra

Domerabra (Ash), Aug 8, GNA- Properties worth GH¢50,000 have been destroyed in a fire outbreak which completely razed down a house, at Domeabra near Juansah in the Ashanti Akim-North Municipality. The house belonging to Isaac Frimpong, resident in America, caught fire around 0900 hours on Wednesday and all efforts by neighbours to extinguish it proved unsuccessful.

Items destroyed included ten deep freezers, four washing machines, four power generating plants, television sets, computers among others. Mrs. Rita Amponsah, wife of Frimpong, told GNA she smelt the scent of smoke but could not detect its source while watching television in the living room.

She said she went into the wash room and returned later to discover smoke coming out from the house.

Mrs Amponsah said raised the alarm, which attracted neighbours who tried in vain to quench the fire. She said she called personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service at Konongo but they complained that their fire tender had broken down. Mrs Amponsah said she called fire personnel at in Ejisu whose arrival was too late to save the situation.
