The Management of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to train Fire Personnel in the field of Forensic Investigation.

A statement by the Public Affairs Department of the GNFS and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said GNFS has established a Fire Laboratory and Forensic Unit.

The statement quoted Professor Joseph Ghartey Ampiah Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast as saying that the collaboration between the Fire Service and the University will go a long way to enhance the application of modern scientific methods in the area of Fire Management in the country.

The Chief Fire Officer Edwin Ekow Blankson in his speech noted that the collaboration between the two institutions is timely because it will address the scientific needs of the Service in terms of fire investigations thereby assisting the Fire Service with more effective and efficient ways of dealing with fire outbreaks and other life-threatening situations.
