Fifty Senior Citizens in C/R honoured

Cape Coast, July 4, GNA - Fifty senior citizens in the Central Region were on Friday honoured by the Central Regional Coordinating Council to commemorate the 51st Republic Day anniversary. They took home wax prints, Shirts, soap, beverages and other food item= s. Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area presided over the ceremony which attracted government functionaries like Mr Ebo Barton Odro, Deputy Attorney General, Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins, Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive and Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhene of Abeadze Domenase and Member of Council of State. Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, said the government recognizes their positive contributions to the development process and will continue to support them with the needed interventions that will ensure their social security. She encouraged them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) by taking advantage of the exemption package for the aged.

The Regional Minister said the government is determined to ensure the successful implementation of the one time premium policy for the NHIS. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe said the Member of Parliament for the area has established a clinic in Cape Coast for the aged to take care of their health needs.

The senior citizens should take advantage of it and go for regular check up, she urged. "As senior citizens, your rich experiences are needed at all times to enhance our cause." She stressed adding that 93we are therefore more than willing to receive your advice to advance the better Ghana Agenda that we have set for ourselves".
