Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High School (APSEC), located in the Kwahu District of the Eastern Region, has taken proactive steps to honour second and third-year students who demonstrated consistent academic excellence during the 2025 academic year.
The event, organised on Monday, December 1, 2025, was a purpose-driven ceremony aimed at celebrating discipline, perseverance, and honouring God for guidance throughout the students' academic journey.
Most of the honours presented on this occasion were awarded to female students, highlighting their dominance in academic achievement within the school.
Out of seventy-eight students awarded, female students received fifty awards, while male students received twenty-eight awards.
The best three students in each class of the school’s program areas, General Arts, General Science, Business, Home Economics, and Visual Arts, were recognised for the awards.
The peak of the presentation was when the entire student body and staff stood in ovation for Addae Anita, a final-year student, who was recognized as the overall best student in Form 3, a commendable achievement.
During the ceremony, the headmaster of the school (APSEC), Dr Franklin Akuffo Otibu, urged students to utilise the school’s facilities to acquire knowledge and skills essential for various sectors after their journey at the senior high school.
“Your mindset at APSEC should focus solely on acquiring new skills and knowledge, beyond merely making new friends,” he advised.
He further stated that management is committed to establishing a conducive learning environment by organising daily activities that facilitate students’ private study.
In his address, Dr Otibu also encouraged the award recipients to maintain the level of excellence attained, while urging other students to work diligently toward academic success.
He assured that measures have been put in place to bridge the performance gap between average students and high achievers through targeted interventions aimed at enhancing academic performance.
He underscored the significance of hard work, dedication, and discipline as vital components of academic and overall success.
Focusing on the overall best student’s honours, Osei Kwakye Awurakua Yeboah and Oberkor Sackey secured third and second positions, respectively, while Ofosu Richmond Owiredu received the Best Student Award in Form 2.
Addae Anita distinguished herself by achieving the top honour in Form 3, with Akueteh Xfriar Ashie and Bortey Louisa following in second and third positions, respectively.
Additional awards included the Headmaster’s Special Prize awarded to Yeboah Richmond Adofo, a Visual Art student, and the Assistant Headmaster of Academics’ Best Economics Student Prize, named in honor of Atinyo Edmond.
The ceremony concluded on a positive note, leaving students motivated and inspired to continue achieving excellence in their academic pursuits.
Staff, management, and students of the school graced the event.
