Farmer calls on IGP to arrest driver who knocked down her son

Suhum (E/R), Oct. 20, GNA - A 45-year-old farmer, Madam Cecilia Kokor of Aponoapono, a suburb of Suhum, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to investigate why the driver who knocked down her son has not been arrested even though a report was made to the police and the driver identified.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Suhum over the weekend, Madam Kokor said her only son, Alexander Coffie, a 22-year-old apprentice mechanic, was returning from work on May 16 when a Peugeot car with registration number GW 4677 S, travelling from Kumasi towards Accra knocked him down while overtaking another vehicle.

He said the driver of the vehicle failed to stop but a taxi driver who happened to be around reported the case to the police. Madam Kokor said the son whose leg was nearly amputated was recently discharged from the Suhum Government Hospital.
