Many farming communities in the Upper Manya Krobo district of the Eastern region are likely to be hit with severe famine following the destruction of several acres of farms by cattle of nomadic herdsmen.

Hunger scare has already engulfed the communities as they struggle to get food to eat whiles others are indebted to their creditors who provided loans for them to plough their lands.

Communities such as Anyaboni resettlement area,Aframase ,Akateng , Poliwa, Terguanya and other farming communities in the district have been affected by the activities of the Fulani herdsmen creating fear of food insecurity hence a call on NADMO to come to their aid.

Peasant farmers in these communities affected by the destructive activities of the fulani herdsmen, took Ultimate new’s Eastern regional Correspondent Kojo Ansah round large acres of cassava, maize, groundnut, pepper, beans and okro farms pastured by cattle of the nomadic herdsmen.

The crops were in harvesting stages when they were prematurely pastured by the cattle.

The farmers mostly single mothers and widows lament that the destruction of their farm lands will inflict hardship and hunger on their families as the farms are their sources of livelihood.

Some of the farmers told Ultimate news their children may stay home because they have no money to pay their fees.
