Esase-Bontefufuo SHS shows a marked increase in enrolment

Esase-Bontefufuo (Ash), Feb. 28, GNA - Student enrolment at Esase-Bontefufuo Senior High School (SHS) increased from 23 in 2004 to 490 in 2007 due to efficient administration and management.

Mr. Victor Owusu-Ansah, the headmaster, who announced this said, the school has seen immense improvement in infrastructure and beautification during the past four years and this had facilitated the rapid increase in enrolment. He announced this when Mrs. Belinda Serwaa Addo, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education paid a day's working visit o the school on Tuesday.

Mr. Owusu-Ansah said that, the school has put up a dinning hall and an extra dormitory block at the cost of 40,000 Ghana Cedis (400 million cedis) through its own resources to accommodate other candidates posted to the school from other regions. He identified lack of transport, inadequate dormitories and classroom as the major priority challenges facing the school and appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund) and other institutions to assist the school.

Addressing the staff and students later, Mrs. Addo noted that, the Ghana Education Services (GES) was much concerned with the improvement of facilities in schools, especially in the rural areas. She commended the teachers for their dedication and commitment which, she said, had immensely improved the state of the school. Mrs. Addo called for maximum co-operation and support for the staff to promote discipline and excellent academic output.
