Ellembelle DCE appeals to IGP to renovate Nkroful Police Station

Aiyinase (W/R), Oct. 03, GNA - The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle, Mr Daniel K.Eshun, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to consider the Nkroful Police station for renovation works and the establishment of a Police Station at Atuabo, to beef up security in the area.

He said the Assembly had taken a step by putting up a modern Police Station complex at Aiyinase and renovation works on the Esiama station is on course.

Mr Eshun said as a district capital, Nkroful was in dire need of a modern Police Station to meet the challenges that the mining industry located in the area would bring, adding that, the Atuabo station was necessary since it is the traditional capital of the district. He made the appeal when the deputy Commander of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), DCOP Bernard G.Dery, paid a working visit to the district, to inspect the on-going construction of the 3-room Police quarters and a station at Aiyinase.

Mr Eshun observed that, due to its economic nature, there was the need for a Police Commander to man the district and implored the IGP to post a commander to the area.

DCOP Dery indicated that the visit was to enable the Police Administration to inspect the on-going project and give recommendations and also learn about problems confronting the district.

He assured the DCE that he would communicate their concerns to the IGP, adding that, looking at the nature of the district and its economic potentials, the Police administration would do their best to help improve security in the area.
