Election Of Regional Officers Of Ghana Bar Association – 2009/10
(WESTERN REGION BRANCH)

In accordance with Section 20(1) of the Constitution of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), the Western Region Branch of the Association held its annual elections at the premises of the High Court at Sekondi on Tuesday, 9th November, 2010.

At the close of proceedings under the moderation of the Ag. Regional Electoral Officer, His Excellency Anthony K. Forson, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, the incumbent officers were returned as unopposed and given the mandate to run the activities of the GBA in the region for the 2010/11 Legal Year which begins from October and ends in September. A new Publicity Officer was, however, elected from two contesting members to strengthen the new Executive Committee.

They elected officers are:
1. Ebenezer A. Kwaitoo, Esq. … President
2. Samuel Agbottah, Esq. … Vice President
3. Emmanuel Kofi Diaba, Esq. … Secretary
4. Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Esq. … Assistant Secretary
5. Patience Diaba (Mrs) … Treasurer
6. Constantine Kudzedzi, Esq. … Publicity Officer
7. Emmanuel Arthur, Esq. … Past President

In accepting the mandate, the President-elect, Mr. E. A. Kwaitoo expressed his appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and assured his colleague lawyers of a progressive change management process that would prepare lawyers in the Western Region to be up to the task of providing world class legal service to the public within the milieu of the new oil and gas industry.
He reiterated his vision based on the theme: Law as a Catalyst for Sustainable Development, and stressed that among other things, a Bar Centre would be established to provide easy access to public interest legal services.

Lawyer Kwaitoo indicated that the Bar would organize quarterly workshops at the regional level to beef up the knowledge stock of the membership as part of their continuing legal education; strengthen the relationship with Judges and Magistrates, and other professional bodies; as well as provide leadership as regards policy making and developmental issues in the Region.
