Ejisu Information centre pledges support for census exercise

Ejisu (Ash), Sept. 15, GNA - Mr Mohammed Adams Boakye- Yiadom, Chairman of the Ejisu Juaben Municipal Private Information Centres Association, has promised to avail its premises, free of charge, to census officials for the national exercise.

The chairman, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency at Ejisu on Tuesday said, though the air time, which would be allotted to the officials would cost the individual centre owners; they considered it as their contribution towards the success of the exercise. Mr Boakye Yiadom, who is also the assembly man for Ejisu Beasease, said the importance of the exercise needs an intensive public educational campaign, to explain the modalities to the people. He called on other Assembly members to help support the exercise. Nana Ohene Daakwa, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Statistical Service Department Officer, commended the information centre operators for their support to ensure a successful population census in the area. He called on other agencies in the municipality to follow the good example of the information centre operators.

The officer said about 286 census personnel would be engaged to help in the exercise in the municipality. Out of the number, 46 would be supervisors; six would be assigned as senior field supervisors whiles the remaining would act as enumerators. He entreated the public to attach great importance to the exercise and also provide all the needed information to the enumerators when they visit them.
