Effutu MP pledges to promote education

Winneba (C/R), Jan. 26, GNA - Mr. Mike Hammah, Member of Parliament (MP), for Effutu Constituency, and Minister for Transport designate, has pledged to use part of his share of the MP's Common Fund for the establishment of an endowment fund towards the promotion of education in the area. He also promised to assist in revamping the Pomadze factory in the area to create more jobs for the youth. Mr. Hammah said these after he joined National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters from the area and leading members of the party in procession throughout the principal streets of Winneba to celebrate the party's victory in Election 2008, at the weekend. He said he would not discriminate against anyone in the discharge of his duties as MP but he would work for all the people irrespective of their political backgrounds. Mr. Hammah said he would promote sports in the area by assisting one football team in Winneba to work hard and enter the premier division. Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, a leading member of the NDC, who took part in the procession, conveyed congratulatory messages of President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President John Mahama to the people of Effutu and urged them to unite for the development of the area. He said President Mills would appoint competent and approachable Ministers who would listen to the people and hard to accelerate the development of Ghana. Alhaji Yahaya asked officials of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), in the area to work assiduously to enable the people get access to medical care. He said the NDC Government would not enter into negotiations with foreigners to fish in the deep sea to the disadvantage of local fishermen.
