Dr. and Mrs. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei and family on the eve of Valentine’s Day led the Edusei Foundation to present a newly built and fully furnished modern medical clinic, medical ward, 40-bed dormitory and nurses flat to Tamale Children’s Home.

The foundation chose not only to show love to the underprivileged as pertains to Valentine’s Day, but also to demonstrate their sincere love for children in general.

Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei’s connection with the people of Tamale dates back to more than three decades ago.

It will be recalled that on a number of occasions in the 1990’s, Dr. Bawuah- Edusei leveraged on his work in various medical centers in the USA to organize a medical team from the USA to Tamale to conduct health screening, treatment and preventive medicine.

In addition to this, the Foundation has been donating food items and medical supplies to selected orphanages in the three northern regions. It also donated to the Catholic Charity Foundation to help their philanthropic works in the three regions in the north.



Dr. Bawuah-Edusei as a nationalist and patriotic citizen of his beloved country has always felt the need to contribute to the medical cause of the nation, as this medical philanthropic works have been ongoing ever since.

The Edusei Foundation has come to a conclusion that, it is very difficult for a child to be in an orphanage in a third world country.

It is even more challenging when these children have underlining medical conditions. That is why the Foundation moved to build a fully furnished modern medical clinic from the founders’ own resource to make the life of the children in the orphanage better.

The Foundation has also built nurses flat to ensure the commitment of the professional care givers at the orphanage.



In the case of the Tamale Children’s Home, prior assessment revealed the facility was in dire need of a dormitory block for the orphanage for which the Edusei Foundation has responded by building a furnished dormitory block.

All the three facilities were presented to Tamale Children’s Home administration to ensure smooth running of the orphanage’s operations.

Background of Edusei Foundation

Dr. and Mrs. Bawuah-Edusei and family established the Edusei foundation in 2013 to give back to the community through helping to empower women and the younger generation to aim and achieve higher height through hard work, selflessness and positive thinking and actions. This and the family background of philanthropy has been the source of motivation in all their endeavors which include donations, charity works, youth workshops, and building of clinics since its creation both in Ghana and the Diaspora.
