Education is greatest investment - Boaduahene

Boadua (E/R), Aug. 2, GNA - Barima Owusu Konadu II, Boaduahene has described education as the greatest investment parents could make for their children.

He said if parents offered their children sound academic and moral education they would have bequeathed to them a valuable heritage. Barima Konadu was speaking at his 25th anniversary of his accession to the Boadua stool, which also coincided with his 70th birthday celebration at Boadua, near Akwatia on Monday.

The Boaduahene called on his people to make whatever sacrifices necessary to educate their children to the highest level possible. He also advised pupils and students to be studious, obey their teachers and parents and respect their elders, adding that they should also avoid falling victims to peer pressure, which could endanger their future.

Barima Konadu urged his people to do away with acts that divide then and come together with the traditional council to plan how best to further develop the town.

Nana Afua Kyerewaa II, queenmother of Boadua, noted that there was low level of education among girls in the township and advised parents to encourage their wards, especially the girls, to pursue education to very advanced level to make them worthy citizens in future. She noted that teenage pregnancy was on the increase and advised parents to keep an eye on their children to prevent them from becoming wayward.

Mr Joe Ofori, an Accra business executive and childhood friend of Nana Boaduahene, also asked the youth to aspire for greatness and not only to acquire academic laurels but also skills that could make them self-employed.

He asked the people to co-operate with the chief and his elders so that together, they could further move the town forward.
