Education is an engine for national growth - NGO advises women

Empowerment Aid NGO, has charged a women’s group in Asuasu, a suburb of Adieso in Eastern Region to play key roles in their children’s education.

According to the NGO, empowering girls and women is an effective way to end poverty and build healthier, wealthier and educated communities. The NGO visited Asuasu as part of its educational tour to ensure more girls’ enrollment in school.

Mrs Margaret Adomako, a member of Empowerment Aid tasked the women to encourage their children as well as pay more attention to their education. She said that when children are encouraged, it improves their capabilities.

She added that, spending more time with the children means taking interest in their activities and keeping them from cultivating bad habits.

Nana Obiri Mantey, King of Asuasu community applauded the NGO for showing such tremendous concern to his community. Hefurther appealed to the women to work on themselves and learn new skills since they themselves serve as the best examples to their children.

Women, he advised, need to advise their children to sit and study, sleep on time, eat on time, and also train them on good communication and writing skills.

The organization presented clothing, bags, books, school uniforms and shoes to the community and thanked them for their warmth reception.

Empowerment Aid, is Non- Governmental Organization based in Accra which seeks to improve the well-being of women and girls living in poor communities.
