Education Minister urge trade unions to address concerns through dialogue

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Minister of Education has appealed to unions within the education sector to use dialogue to address their concerns instead of embarking on strike.

The Minister said this when she addressed members of the Forum of Education Unions in Accra.

The Unions are Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana, Ghana Association of University Administrators, Coalition of Concern Teachers and Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured the unions that everything is being done to address their concerns, and called on them to work closely to find lasting solutions to challenges facing them.

She requested the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to publish all information it has in connection with categories for allowances.

Mr Paul Asamanaba Apanga, President of GNAT, called on the government to address all outstanding issues relating to labour as early as possible.
