Education Director appeals for private sector support

Alhaji M.S. Abdul-Rahaman, Tamale Metropolitan Director of Education at the weekend, appealed to the private sector to invest in Ghana’s educational sector to ensure quality standards of education.

He said government cannot provide the needed resources and facilities for quality education, without partnering with the private sector.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman made the appeal in Tamale in a speech read on his behalf during the 20th graduation and, Speech and Prize giving day of the “Fachi Little Flower School Complex”, a private school in Tamale.

The event was on the theme: “Private School Education: Corner Stone for National Development,” which witnessed the graduation of 80 pupils from Kindergarten two to Basic one.

The pupils who distinguished themselves academically were awarded.

Mr Abdul-Rahaman said: “The tool and barometer that can confidently be used to accelerate and measure the development of the nation is quality circular education”.

He said his outfit is ready to assist private schools to train teachers by way of building their capacities so as to set a strong foundation for their pupils.

Mr Abdul-Rahaman called on parents to pay premium attention on their children by providing them with their basic needs and ensuring that they receive the best of education.

He expressed the need for parents to regularly visit their children in school especially those at boarding houses to find out their performance and welfare.

Mr Charles K. Nyabu, Manager of the school complex said the event was to recognise and award those who have distinguished themselves in various fields to serve as a motivation for others to take their studies seriously.

He said pupils in the school are normally taken through debates, quiz competitions and spelling ‘B’ to sharpen their skills and to inculcate in them critical and logical thinking.

He said the school has a well-furnished and equipped computer laboratory with 31 computers for the teaching and learning of ICT to improve the knowledge of the pupils on technology.
