Eastern Regional GHANET commemorate World AIDS Day

Koforidua, Dec. 1, GNA- The Eastern Regional Branch of Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), has extended its greetings to all institutions working on HIV/AIDS as the world celebrate this year's World AIDS Day.

This was contained in a press release issued by the GNANET at Koforidua on Wednesday.

It observed that, though it was easier to educate the youth to abstain from sex, the greatest problem was how to monitor "behind-the-scene actions."

It said the country was living at a time when "the word Love had blindfolded the youth into believing that the best way to express it was have sex without any protection."

It observed that, the youth had to be empowered to fight against their "execution" by the dreadful HIV/AIDS disease. The release called for "factual and not beliefs" based on traditions or religious issues for the education of the youth. The release entreated parents to take the education on reproductive health very serious in helping to sexually empower the young people before they mature for sex. It urged the youth to take their own destiny into their hands and remember that they were accountable for their own deeds. Dec. 1, 05
