The Headmaster of the W.B.M Zion Senior High School at Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern region is pleading with government to provide a permanent school building for them.

This is because the school which was established in 1979 has been operating in a rented apartment for the past 36 years.

The headmaster, John Kofi Beantey, speaking at the school’s first Speech and Prize Giving Day Saturday, said although the school has acquired a sew site, they cannot move there because there is no infrastructure to accommodate them.

He hinted that the dire state of affairs at the school has compelled authorities to combine many of the classes creating discomfort for students and teachers.

"The old site is rented for which the school has been paying rent for 36 years now. With the current increase in enrollment, the school needs additional 3 storey 18 unit classroom block to cater for all program at all levels," he noted

He also expressed concerns over the health implications for the students who are studying in the mud facility.

“The school has no dining hall, students therefore have to eat in classrooms".

He appealed to government to speed up work on the planned 2 storey 12 unit classroom block at the new site.
