Dunkwa-on-Offin Chief begs for forgiveness

The Chief of Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Upper Denkyira West, Nana Obeng Nuako III on Monday petitioned the Denkyira Traditional Council to ask for forgiveness for his indisciplined behaviour towards the Paramount Chief of Denkyira Traditional Area, Odeefo Boa Amponsem.

Nana Nuako was led by three paramount chiefs from the region as well as his family members to Jukwa to plead with Odeefoo and all the chiefs of the traditional area.

Nana Nuako had a problem with the Traditional Council immediately after he was enstooled the chief of the area, a situation which prevented Odeefo from swearing him in as the chief of the area for about seven years.

Nana Nuako, who was later invited by Odeefo and the chiefs at the Traditional Council to settle the issue, amicably got infuriated compelling his family members who accompanied him to the Council to whisk him away.

This action compelled Odeefo to ban him from attending events organised by the Traditional Council some years ago.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that Nana Nuako after the incident dragged the Traditional Council to the law court where the case was thrown out, a situation which prevented him from being gazetted.

Nana Nuako after encountering a number of obstacles as a result of the litigation had no option than to plead with some paramount chiefs in the region to accompany him to beg for forgiveness.

During the ceremony, the Queen mother of the Denkyira State, Nana Ayensua Saara advised the chief to respect the people if only he wants to continue to remain the chief of the area as well as seek the face of God in whatever he would do.

He was made to pay an amount of GH¢1000, three rams and four bottles of schnapps to perform rituals for the gods to forgive him for disobeying Odeefo.

He was later sworn in as the chief of the area.
