Drobonso district, Norway sign pact

The Sekyere AframPlains District of the Ashanti Region, has once chalked another milestone in its quest to ensure socio-economic development and improve the lives of residents in the newly created district, after receiving assistance from Norway.

The Mayor of the Norwegian capital city, Oslo, Mr. Fabian Stang, has pledged to support Sekyere Afram Plains District in areas of planning and investment in educational programmes, especially vocational education in the district.

The Mayor of Oslo has additionally pledged his office’s commitment to help improve the agricultural sector by providing resources that will directly help farmers improve their yields.

Mr. Stang gave the pledge when the District Chief Executive Officer of Sekyere Afram Plains, Hon. Fuseini Donkor paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Oslo, during a recent visit to that country with the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Briefing The Chronicle on the outcome of the meeting, Hon. Donkor said the Oslo Mayor pointed out that as a new district, his office would like to help authorities of Sekyere Afram Plains in planning their spatial and developmental needs in order to avoid the mistakes made by his country during the planning of their capital city.

After introducing investment opportunities in the Sekyere District to the Mayor, Hon. Donkor stated that Mr. Stang was impressed at the abundant natural resources and expressed his willingness to contribute in the areas of vocational education and agriculture.

Hon. Fuseini Donkor, on his part, commended Mayor Stang for the assurance and urged him to make do his promise.
