Driver knocks down mad man while celebrating Stars' Victory

Akyem Oda June 22 GNA - A taxi driver with car registration number GT 8375 Q, whose identity was not immediately known knocked down a mad man at Akyem Oda, while celebrating the Black Stars qualification to the quarter finals in the on-going World Cup on Thursday. The victim was rushed to the Akyem Oda Government hospital by some jubilant football fans.

Meanwhile, scores of football fans at Akyem Oda defied a heavy down pour to pour into the streets of to celebrate the Black Stars 2-1 win over the Team USA.

Immediately the final whistle sounded, the fans clad in Ghana's national colours and waving flags jammed the streets in a wild jubilation amidst brass band music.

Ms Ophelia Koomson, a dire hard Hearts of Oak supporter told the Ghana News Agency that the victory brought back memories of 2000 when Hearts lifted the continental trophy for the first time. She was optimistic that with a little effort, the senior national team would reach the finals in the competition.

Mr Attah Hayford, an electrical contractor commended the handlers of the team on the good strategy they mapped out that enabled the team to play with confidence without felling the absence of Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan, two key players of the team.
