Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, joined Ahafo Ano South West District Chief Executive (DCE) Abubakar Sedik on Monday, August 4, 2025, to inspect ongoing development projects within the district. The visit aimed to assess progress, address challenges, and ensure the effective implementation of initiatives designed to boost the local economy and improve living conditions for residents.
The tour included a meeting with the staff of the District Assembly and Kunsuhene, Nana Dr. Agyeman Badu Duah I, to discuss development projects in Kunsu — notably the construction of a Police Headquarters and the long-awaited District Hospital under the Agenda 111 initiative.
Dr. Amoakohene, after visiting the Agenda 111 District Hospital construction site, the Mankranso Community Park, and a six-unit classroom block at Oyinanufo, reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming the socio-economic status of every district through strategic allocations from the District Assemblies Common Fund. The lead contractor for the Agenda 111 site, Nickseth Construction Company Ltd., reported that the project was 73.4% complete.
Addressing concerns about mining activities, the Regional Minister stated:
“President Mahama is not against mining but against irresponsible mining. It is prohibited to mine in our forest reserves, watersides, and in the heart of communities.”
He further announced that President John Dramani Mahama will launch Cooperative Mining in Obuasi, Ashanti Region, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The initiative will promote responsible mining practices and the reclamation of previously mined lands.
In an interview with the media, Dr. Amoakohene urged reporters to accurately portray the status of projects as inherited by the current government, ensuring proper credit is given upon completion. He stressed the importance of finishing the Agenda 111 District Hospital and pledged to brief the Health Minister on its progress to facilitate timely action.
For his part, District Chief Executive Abubakar Sedik reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Regional Minister to ensure the hospital’s completion, calling it essential to strengthening healthcare services in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
