Dormaaman embarks on development projects

The Dormaa Traditional Council has planned to raise GH¢ 500,000.00 for the establishment of farming and agro-business ventures towards the development of the Dormaa area.

The move was initiated by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Dormaahene, to create employment in the area to prevent rural-urban migration for non-existent jobs by the youth.

The Dormaahene disclosed these in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Dormaa-Ahenkro in Brong-Ahafo at the weekend.

He said the plan would commence after the Dormaaman Easter Congress on Saturday April 7, 2012, at Wamanafo in Dormaa East District, at which funds would be raised for the projects.

Osagyefo Agyemen Badu said the project among others would involve irrigation, maize production, re-afforestation (tree plantation), construction of silos and sachet water production.

He said the Dormaaman Development Trust Company would manage the projects.

Barima Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, chief of Dormaa Panpaso and Dormaa Gyaasehene, said the venue for the annual congress would be rotated.

Efiritete Baafuor Sanpon-Siaw, Mpanpanimhene (Wamfie) said 1000 acres of land has been earmarked for the project.

Barima Dei Kusi Gyabaah II, Dormaa Ankobeahene, said the maize farming and afforestation projects would create about 1,500 jobs.**
