Dormaa NADMO registers more than 17,000 Burkinabe refugees

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), July 29, GNA - The Dormaa District Office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has since October last year, registered a total of 17,030 Burkinabe refugees at Gonokrom and Kofi Badukrom, border towns near Dormaa-Ahenkro.

They are made up of 9,168 women and 7,862 men.

Mr Stephen Adu, District Co-ordinator of NADMO told the GNA at Dormaa-Ahenkro yesterday that the evacuation of the Burkinabes was sponsored by the International Organization for Migrants (IOM) of the United Nations Commission for Refugees.

The refugees were fleeing from the political crisis, which erupted in Cote d'Ivoire last year.
