Dompim youth reject Kwame Dzokoto’s donation

Seth Kwame Dzokoto, parliamentary candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency in the Western Region, appears to face difficulties with a section of the youth in the constituency.

This was clearly manifested when a donation he attempted making to citizens of Dompim Bipo-Akyir, a community in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, was flatly rejected by the youth.

Dzokoto, who was in the company of party executives on a tour of the constituency, had no option but to leave the scene and send the items to a different town in the community.

Throwing more light on the issue, Paa Kwesi Ephraim, the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Organiser of the party, who was part of the team, said Dzokoto made a promise to the people of Dompim Bipo Akyir concerning their bridge, and when President Mahama also came to Tarkwa recently, he also made a promise to the citizens of Bogoso junction.

He continued that, "Dzokoto consequently went for the items meant for the people of Tarkwa from the President and added what he had promised the people of Dompim Bipo Akyir.

“We first went to Tarkwa and we were well received but when it was the turn of Dompim Bipo-Akyir, we encountered this problem. As a result, we had to change our plans and make the donation in a different town of the community," Ephraim narrated.

Some political watchers pointed accusing fingers at the opposition New Patriotic (NPP) for masterminding the mischievous conduct of the youth, but a spokesman of the NPP quickly distanced his party from the confusion, and urged the NDC leadership in the constituency to look within their ranks for the root cause of the appalling incident.

Dzokoto would come face-to-face with Mireku Duker, the NPP candidate, in the race for the parliamentary seat.

Duker was the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality at the tail end of the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
