"Do away with acts that hinder productivity"-Ms Koomson

Koforidua, June 8, GNA - Ms Ophelia Koomson, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has challenged workers to do away with all negative acts that tend to hinder productivity.

She indicated that for the President to realize his better Ghana Agenda, it was incumbent on all workers to guard against lateness, absenteeism and malingering among others and rather aimed at maximizing productivity.

Ms Koomson who said this during her maiden meeting at Akyem Oda with departmental heads in the municipality advised them to work together as a team to move the municipality to a higher level. She reminded the heads of their leadership role and urged them to be guided by code of ethics of their various work places. Ms Koomson charged them to set good examples at all times for their subordinates to emulate and also to be transparent in all their dealings. She advised them to have periodic interaction with their staff so that there would not be any room for agitation by anybody. The MCE advised them to do away with partisan politics and to serve the Government of the day.

She was not happy about the situation where some public and civil servants either directly or indirectly by their actions try to undermine government's efforts in helping to improve the lives of the people. Ms Koomson assured the heads that she would operate an open administration and urged them to feel free to call at her office whenever they encounter any problem at their work places. She later called for the formation of "Heads of Department Association" to serve as a communication channel among them.
