District Police Commander rehabilitates buildings with personal loan

Donkorkrom (E/R), Feb. 8, GNA - The Donkorkrom District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Yeboah, has spent 60 million cedis from a personal loan he took from the bank and remittance from relatives abroad to rehabilitate buildings and offices at the Donkorkrom Police Barracks in the Afram Plains District. He said he took the initiative due to the deplorable conditions at the barracks and the Police Station when he was posted to head the District nine months ago and has so far spent 320 million cedis on a number of projects including renovation of rooms at the rented barracks, an abandoned building, District Commander's office, construction of a ten seater KVIP toilet and extension of pipe borne water to the barracks.

ASP Yeboah was speaking to newsmen in an interview at Donkorkrom on Monday.

He said he was currently owning some traders 175 million cedis being building materials he credited for the projects, while the Assembly had given him 50 million cedis to defray some of the cost involved. The Police Administration is yet to release funds to settle the debts incurred.

The District Commander said the District Police Command with 48 police personnel had no vehicle to control the crime waive in the District with a population of 158,000 people and appealed to the District Assembly and the Police Administration to assist them with means of transport to combat crimes in the area. He said the Amankwaakrom Police barracks had no place of convenience and portable water and so the police personnel and their families eased themselves in the bush.

ASP Yeboah said traffic offences and other crimes had reduce drastically due to continue education and regular motor checks on the roads as a result of which 20 drivers were recently fined 15.8 million cedis by a Donkorkrom Magistrate Court for various motor traffic offences.
