Mankranso (Ash), Dec.17.GNA-Mr. Sampson Amofah-Krah, the outgoing District Director of Education for Ahafo-Ano-South has been commended for reversing the perception of corruption and financial malfeasance that was associated with the education directorate some years ago. Mr. Kwame Obeng-Boateng, the District Chief Executive who made the commendation disclosed that, over 50, 000 Ghana Cedis (500 million cedis) was reportedly embezzled at the district education directorate before the District Director of Education assumed office. The DCE was speaking at a farewell ceremony, jointly organized by the District Assembly and the District Education Directorate for Mr. Amofah-Krah, on his compulsory retirement from the Ghana Education Service on Friday at Mankranso.
Mr. Obeng-Boateng described the out-going District Director as an honest, dedicated, patriotic and hardworking public servant who, in diverse ways, contributed meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the district.
Mrs. Belinda Serwaa Addo, the Ashanti Regional Director of Education said, the selfless service rendered by Mr.Amofah-Krah has won him a great deal of respect and also fostered unity to boost the confidence and morale of members in the profession.
Through quality leadership and managerial skills, she said, numerous children in the district who would otherwise had been denied a better chance to lead healthy and productive lives were engaged in decent jobs. Mrs. Addo, conceded the daunting task that confronted the outgoing District Director of Education in the face of the numerous socio-economic and other pressures that were brought to bear on his stewardship.
Mr. Amofah-Krah expressed his gratitude to District Assembly, teachers and other stakeholders who supported and encouraged him during his tenure of office.
He promised to continue to offer his knowledge and experience at the disposal of the district to enhance its development. Nana Tabi Gyansah III, Mpasasohene, who presided, urged the youth to lead lives worthy of emulation and desist from acts that would undermine the district's socio-economic and political development.
