District Assembly undertakes one billion cedis projects

The Kintampo District Assembly is constructing school blocks for five communities and a nurses' quarters at Jema, estimated at one billon cedis it has received from the HIPC fund.

The beneficiary communities are Kwaabia, Agyegyeamakunu, Dumanafour, Sabule and Babatorkrom, all in the Brong Ahafo.

Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh, District Chief Executive (DCE), disclosed this to to the Ghana News Agency at Kintampo.

He said the Assembly had placed a high premium on education and the construction of the school blocks was part of efforts to help to improve fallen standard of education in the district.

Mr Bomfeh expressed gratitude to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for assisting in providing some educational infrastructure in the District.

USAID is constructing school blocks at Agyina, Kurawura-Akura, Pramposo and a Teachers' Bungalow at Jema. Schools in the District are also being provided with dual desks.

Mr Bomfeh said 192 boreholes would be drilled in selected communities in the district.

Twenty-three boreholes have already been constructed at other places to promote the health needs of the people, he added.
