District Assembly to provide school infrastructure

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 6, GNA- Nkoranza District Assembly is to construct a three-classroom block with an office and a store and places of convenience for the Roman Catholic Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Nkoranza.

Mr. Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive, was addressing the staff and students of the school at a durbar to commemorate the Catholic Educational Annual Week programme.

He announced that there were plans to provide a six-classroom block for the school with HIPC funds.

The DCE urged parents with children in the school to visit them regularly to interact and encourage the teachers to instil discipline amongst them.

Mr Ampofo-Twumasi asked the PTA of the school to arrange for incentives for hard working students and teachers to boost their morale.

Mr. Collins Yaw Osei, Assembly Member for the Kassardjan Electoral Area, where the Catholic Schools are sited, deplored the refusal of some parents to attend PTA meetings.

He advised such parents to turn over a new leaf and attend the meetings to share ideas with teachers to ensure that their children obtained quality education.

The Assembly Member urged the teachers to organize regular quiz competitions among their students to keep them abreast with current issues, adding that he had also made plans to offer some prizes to deserving students in such competitions.

Mr. Peter Osei-Fosu, an educationist and a member of the Church, who presided, commended the Catholic Church for its support for government's development programmes.
