DiscoveryTel Ghana to speak at WiMAX Forum Awards

DiscoveryTel Ghana Limited, the country’s leading converged Internet service provider, has been elected to speak at this year WiMAX forum Awards in South Africa.

The forum is a gathering of broadband telecommunications giants across the world, and this year the forum would focus on supporting the African operator community in developing and managing profitable growth of WiMAX network deployments.

The African WiMAX community currently faces a host of challenges in procuring devices, and optimising the migration or co-existence of WiMAX and TD-LTE networks.

The event is constructed to allow operators to network, share key lessons, and work together for the benefit of the industry.

AfricaCom – the biggest and best tech event in Africa gathers together senior decision-makers from the entire digital ecosystem.

The event would be attended by 9,000 of the smartest, most switched-on digital movers and shakers in Africa, supported by more than 300 of the biggest-hitting speakers in the digital world in Africa and beyond.

More than 375 of the world’s most innovative, forward-thinking telecom brands would showcase their solutions and services.

Mr Yeboah Evans, Managing Director of DiscoveryTel Ghana, said the company is proud to showcase and share its expertise in the broadband industry in West Africa on how to deliver effective and profitable wireless broadband in Africa.

“We are on target to be the preferred last-mile solutions provider in West Africa by 2019 as we recognise the need to enable ubiquitous Wireless Broadband connectivity across the region. Our ultimate aim is to be consistently recognised for quality next-generation products and services for our Business to business (B2B) customers,” he said.

WiMAX, a 4G emerging broadband radio access technology, has attracted much attention from the whole telecom industry in recent years. Its main features are high-speed transmission rate, large coverage, support for enterprise mobility, QoS guarantee and all-IP architecture.

The technology fulfills the integration of packetised data, broadband access for multiple branches connectivity and dedicated internet access; therefore, it has a bright future for wide application usage in the fixed broadband.

The radio access technology enables DiscoveryTel Ghana since 1999, to offer large enterprise, which has several branches in an urban area of the country. The WiMAX fixed wireless broadband access system could be deployed to implement wireless connection between the headquarters and the Local Area Network of each branch.

The access mode avoids the trouble of laying private lines and allows access service to be delivered in a short time. In constructing private networks for customers, it is more advantageous than wired connection.

DiscoveryTel Ghana has been providing a wide range of dedicated internet and network solutions to substantial and diversified local and international client-base that includes corporations, financial institutions, government institutions, micro-credit agencies, insurance firms, NGO’s, small offices, energy sector and the medical community.

Founded in 1999, the firm is headquartered in Accra and maintains operational offices in Kumasi, Koforidua, Sunyani, Takoradi, Aflao, Asamankese, Ho, Swedru, Tamale, Tarkwa, Techiman, Tema, Obuasi, and Winneba and also renders enterprise and residential broadband services to firms in Liberia and Guinea.
