Development is a gradual process - Minister

Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister on Thursday said development of a nation is a gradual process, which needs planning, patience, commitment, and recourses to be achieved.

He said the development of every nation is of paramount importance to every government and as such it is the responsibility of the executive to ensure that adequate measures are taken to achieve it to its maximum.

Nii Agbo, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamaso made this observation at the inauguration of various projects in his constituency in Accra.

The projects included the Kpone Market square, phase one, six- unit classroom blocks each at Katamaso and Haana community, ICT Centre and Post Office at Oyibi, as well as presentation two vehicles for the department of education and health at Kpone.

The minister also presented 700 pieces of street lights for the electoral area, school uniforms as well as furniture for the schools, and in collaboration with GIFEC, 15 desk top computers with accessories, a scanner and colour printer for the ICT Centre at Oyibi.

He said the district was created out of Tema, for it to have its fair share of development agenda from government but must also venture into public private partnership to be able to able to speed up the development process.

Nii Agbo said governments are brought to power to ensure the development of a people within a period of time, and as such there is no time frame for government to execute projects, but hard work and determination to justify their position.

He assured the communities that he would not hesitate to listen to their plight and work according to them, saying teamwork and effective collaboration is needed to ensure that the electoral area develops as expected.

He urged them to ensure to maintain the facility, and use them for their intended purposes in order to be beneficial to the generation now and the generation unborn.

Nii Akpen IV, Jaasetse of Kpone, representing the Paramount Chief of Kpone said development is about commitment and a continues process which cannot be done by one person, but the little efforts of stakeholders.

He said maintenance is a serious issue in Ghana, but urged the communities to have a change of attitude towards the facilities and ensure that they are maintained for as long as they exist.
