Desist from impregnating young girls – Chief warns

The Chief of Gomoa Nkran in the Gomoa West of the Central Region has warned 'irresponsible men and boys' to desist from impregnating school girls in his town or face the long arm of the law.

Nana Ayibaw Mbir VI says the rate at which girls of school going age are being impregnated by those he termed irresponsible men and boys, is alarming, adding abortion is also on the rise in the area.

He revealed a task force has been set up with the responsibility of ensuring that no young child is seen on the streets or corners in the community after 6pm.

Speaking at the inauguration of a New KVIP toilet facility in the town, Nana Mbir warned he would personally ensure that those caught engaging in the practice of impregnating young girls are arrested and sent to jail according to the laws.

He observed teenage pregnancy and illegal abortions are on the ascendancy in the Central Region, especially in Gomoa Nkran, hence would not sit unconcerned for the unspeakable behaviour to continue.

District Chief Executive of Gomoa West, Theophilus Adu Mensah said the assembly visit the people of the communities in the district to and listen to their problems to see how best to resolve them.

He assured the Chief of the Assembly's support to bring the perpetrators of teenage pregnancy and illegal abortions to book.
