Deprived basic schools receive uniforms for pupils

The Nkoranza Municipal Directorate of Education has received 800 pieces of school uniforms for distribution to needy pupils in 28 selected schools in deprived communities in the Municipality.

The uniforms were provided by the government as part of its national policy of making education affordable to all children of school going age across the country.

Madam Stella Amoatemaa, the Nkoranza Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who addressed the staff and pupils of Asuano, Kyirefene and Aboasu basic schools at separate meetings during the presentation ceremony, praised the government for the provision of the school uniforms to support parents of beneficiary pupils.

Madam Amoatemaa stressed the need for parents to play their respective roles as key stakeholders in their children’s education by providing them with their basic needs to compliment the efforts of the government in promoting quality education in the country.

Mr. Godfred Axolu, the Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education, advised parents and teachers to collaborate effectively in the upbringing and education of children to help promote discipline.

Messrs James Kwabena Dusi, the Headteacher of Asuano Community Basic School, on behalf of his colleagues stated that the uniforms would enhance enrolment drive because a number of children of school-going age in those deprived communities were not enrolled due to the inability of their parents to provide them with some basic needs like school uniforms.
