A newly built 6 units classroom block has been commissioned yesterday, March 13, 2020 at Tongor-Ahor D/A Basic School which is located in the Tongor-Kaira electoral area of South Dayi District in the Volta Region.

The provision of the classroom block became necessary as some of the almost 300 pupils of the school had to have their classes under tress due to the lack of enough classrooms to accommodate all of them.

The six unit classroom project whose construction started eight months ago was funded by Pencil of Promises, an international Non-Governmental Organization in collaboration with Volta River Authority (VRA) Resettlement Trust Fund with full support from the Honorable Member of Parliament for the South Dayi District, Hon. Rockson Etse Dafeamekpor.

Pupils of the school together with their parents came to witness the commissioning of the newly built classroom blocks. Some of the pupils could not hide their happiness as they are no more going to have their classes under trees.

During the commissioning ceremony, the assemblyman for the Tonga-Kaira electoral area, Jonas Anyadi thanked the leadership of Pencil of Promises, the NGO behind the project for their timely intervention in order to provide a better learning environment for pupils of the school.

Mr. Jonas also gave appreciations to the VRA Resettlement Trust Fund for their kind gesture towards his community. He went ahead to give thanks to the MP for the constituency, Hon. Rockson Etse Dafeamekpor, the chiefs, the headmaster of the school and the teaching staff for their numerous supports.

Pencil of Promises is currently working with more than 150 communities in Ghana and has so far built over 160 schools in the Volta Region alone.
