Department Of Women Consoles Widows and Widowers

Space FM, Odumase - The Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the Department of Women, Mrs. Victoria Owusu Kyeremaa, has asked widows and widowers to have faith in the Lord because death is a neccessary end.

“God gives and he takes away, you must therefore accept your present circumstance and move forward”, she consoled.

Mrs. Kyeremaa said this in a meeting of the Widows and Widowers Association at Odumase in the Sunyani Municipality of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The meeting brought together members from Awua-Domase, Odumase No.1, Kwatire, Adantia and its surrounding villages.

The chairman of the association, Mr. F. K. Manu Apraku, urged members to lead lives worthy of emulation to the youth. He advised them to shun practices that will make them prone to the deadly HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Mr. Manu Apraku was thankful to the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Itallo and the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church at Odumase for supporting 10 members of the association with an amount of Four Hundred Thousand Cedis (¢400,000.00) every month.

He appealed to the government to consider the plight of widows and widowers in the country by registering them with the National Health Insurance Scheme since most of them are vulnerable.

The Sunyani Municipal NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Kwasi Annan Frimpong, advised the members to work assiduously to maintain their dignity in the society. He donated ¢2 million to the association on behalf of NADMO.
